The Star Kingdom of Manticore and the Republic of Haven have been enemies for Honor Harrington's entire life, and she has paid a price for the victories she's achieved in that conflict. And now the unstoppable juggernaut of the mighty Solarian League is on a collision course with Manticore. The millions who have already died may have been only a foretaste of the billions of casualties just over the horizon, and Honor sees it coming.

She's prepared to do anything, risk anything, to stop it, and she has a plan that may finally bring an end to the Havenite Wars and give even the Solarian League pause. But there are things not even Honor knows about. There are forces in play, hidden enemies in motion, all converging on the Star Kingdom of Manticore to crush the very life out of it, and Honor's worst nightmares fall short of the oncoming reality.

But Manticore's enemies may not have thought of everything after all. Because if everything Honor Harrington loves is going down to destruction, it won't be going alone.

Loved it! A couple of small errors are in the text of course (only to be expected from an early unproofed texr) but it was well worth the money.

Great read! But as a cautionary tale, please David look at what has happened to the 1632 series by Flint. So much telling of the story from different eyes (and authors) that the main tale gets lost. I beg of you, tighten up the story threads and lose the retelling of the same event from three (or more angles). Now that has been said, I am most definitely looking forward to the next book!

    Wow!

I wouldn't recommend that you start reading this series with this book. However, if you have ever read any of this series, this book is amazing! It ties up the loose ends and sets up a truly titanic struggle which will probably be good for at least 5 to 10 more fabulous books!

    A+

What I really like about the Harrington books is the absolutely believable universe David Weber has created. Even though I think "On Basilisk Station" and "The Honor of the Queen" were the best books of the series and even though I prefer the "frigate action" as someone here has said before, it wouldn't be logical for Harrington to get involved with said action. This again contributes to the believable universe, and I'm not really surprised by my own discovery that I don't enjoy shows like Star Wars or Star Trek anymore because of their logical flaws.
Because of Weber's consequent development of the Honorverse, "Mission of Honor" is lacking in focused storytelling. There are myriads of characters, and it is difficult not to get lost in the book. However, Weber nicely (and finally!) connects most of the dangling storythreads, and I'm absolutely looking forward to the next part of the series.
I can't agree with the statement that much of this book is storytelling from different perspectives, even if this was the flaw of some of "Mission of Honor"'s predecessors.

Overall I can definitely recommend reading this book to every fan of the Honorverse, even though I think a newcomer to the Honorverse should definitely start with a much earlier novel to grasp the whole story.
