HONOR KEEPS HER PROMISE
The Solarian League—for hundreds of years they have borne the banner of human civilization. But the bureaucratic Mandarins who rule today's League are corrupt and looking for scapegoats. They've decided the upstart Star Kingdom of Manticore must be annihilated.
UNCOMPROMISING COURAGE
Honor Harrington has worn the Star Kingdom's uniform for half a century. Very few know war the way Honor Harrington does. So far, hers has been a voice of caution. But now the Mandarins have committed atrocities such as the galaxy has not known in a thousand years. They have finally killed too many of the people Honor Harrington loves.
UNCOMPROMISING VENGEANCE
Now Honor Harrington is coming for the Solarian League. And Hell is riding in her wake.

Plot finally moves onOK, needs a little more editing. It's long winded however, the plot is finally getting somewhere. It was frustrating just going through the same scenario from different perspective.

Too Much Pointless NarrationI read this because I really wanted to read the end of this. But he could have cut 100 pages out of the book without losing anything important, and actually it would make it better. The author spends far too much time indulging in pointless talks about things that have nothing to do with the main plot

Disappointing...The book only underlines the general trend of the series. After "At all cost" the series got increasingly long winded and incoherent, like Weber either doesn't have a plan for the story line or he simply lost interest in the story.
Pity, it used to be such a great story...Posted on

Still goodAfter several books of standing still, the plot finally moves on. At least in some parts. The Grand Alliance still knows zilch about the Alignment, for example, after the dynamic duo went to Mesa twice and the GA dropped a whole fleet on the system.
On the other hand, this book has the usual Weber issues: Problems with pacing, and at least I really don't read his books because I enjoy detailed depictions of fictional church politics, of which we are mostly spared this time around. Solarian League politics though...
Also it's nice that David Weber apparently took a heart and didn't drop any more slavic political dictionaries on us, despite the occasional diacritics.Posted on

3.5 Stars -- "That's a Wrap"I enjoyed the book and am pleased that the plot advanced. There are intriguing space battles and less of the over-exposition that I think detracted from some of the prior entries. Overall I think the book finds a decent pausing point for the main series. OTOH if this is the conclusion of all three storylines (main, Talbott Sector, Torch / Mesa) then too many primary characters got short shrift and too much time spent on new or minor characters.

Holy Shit!!!The plot moved forward, folks!
THE PLOT MOVED FORWARD!!!
There are more word and sentence structure errors than I normally find within these eARC's but I found the story to be brisk enough for me to forget 'em within seconds.
This is primarily a "Manticore" driven story with heavy dollops of Honor Harrington.
If you follow the Honorverse then this book will be a treat! If you're new I highly recommend this series, though you would likely have a better time of it by beginning from the beginning of it.
And nope, sorry! NO SPOILERS! May those "reviewers" find their own special place in hell.
This is a strong story. I am very glad I had purchased it early.Posted on

Lost their placeThis book has some descent work in it but it needs some severe editing. Honor has become almost a satire of herself in this book. The pace is long and for the length to much. There as always several good battle scenes but the end is covered in a third of the space needed while the rest of the book is triple what it needs to be.
