Product ReviewC. S. Forrester got there first, but Weber redefined the spaceborne branch of this genre, and this is the book which began his long and rewarding reign. Anyone who misses the unabashedly competent heroes and heroines of the early Heinlein will find welcome here, as will those like me who insist that a good novel must first of all be a good story.
Weber spares neither his characters nor his readers, but truly honors both with his ruthless eye for the costs of war - and peace.Posted on
