A new addition to the Paladin of Shadows military adventure series by multiple New York Times best seller John Ringo and Ryan Sear. Sequel to Ghost, Kildar, Choosers of the Slain, Unto the Breach and A Deeper Blue.

After saving America from Middle Eastern terrorists, even Mike Harmon and the Keldara could use a vacation. Of course, the Kildar's idea of a vacation includes taking down pirates in the Singapore Straits. But when he finds computer chips designed to run nuclear reactors in the pirate booty, Harmon has a new mission thrust upon him—discover how bottom-feeding thieves got their hands on top secret technology.

The chips are headed for newly democratic Myanmar, a country vital to American interests in the region. Now Harmon finds himself in a desperate race to learn who stole the chips and why. From glittering Hong Kong to the slums of Thailand to the swamps of Myanmar, Harmon and his Keldara team follow a trail of death and deceit across the glittering underbelly of Southeast Asia.

And as the path winds through dark jungle and slave labor camps to the heart of newborn democracy, Harmon must devise a way to prevent the nasty overthrow of a nation's capital by totalitarian tyrants. But if there's one thing Mike and the Keldara specialize in, it's doing what it takes to give freedom a chance.

I've read the other paladin of shadows books and had eagerly awaited this one. It was good plenty of action but lacking in any character depth what so ever. In the previous books when the kildar or any of the supporting characters did things there was an understandable reason for it. Now the reason for some of the actions of the characters seems to be well that's what they did in the other books.

Big disappointment, doesn't even come close to the quality of the previous books in the series.

I always cringe when I see a favorite author come out with a new novel that has been co-authored. It is typically very disappointing. I

I liked it, I thought it was much better than "A deeper blue"

Certainly to me Unto the Breach is still the pinnacle of this series with incredible action and so many players.

This one I liked as there was less preoccupation with the Kildars sexual prowess, harem etc. Interesting to see Katya a bit more friendly and laughing with the girls. She seemed strangely out of character compared to her previous self and no explanation really (yes Mike did seem to explain a bit while in the prison compound about the family thing but reckon this should have come from Katya musings herself as she drove perhaps).

I loved the storyline twisting from the pirates HQ to Hong Kong and back down to finish in Singapore. There seemed some long winded techical explanations about things and equipment that in truth i tended to skip over, the history of rebreathers? come on, was that really necessary?. The long winded explanation about the nuclear reactor may have been all technically corrrect for all i know but in truth useless to me. Perhaps writers get criticised over those things if they dont explain, lol.

I would recommend it to any Ringo reader (where I would suggest they skip "Deeper blue or get it on special) as I read all John Ringo's different series and enjoy them and i enjoyed this one

This is a decent book about not so decent characters doing a job that gets bigger in the doing. However, compared to the earlier installments of this series, it'd definitely much weaker

Not as good as the original. It was lacking in the character department. Some of the previous history was off was off. And wtf was up with the team names. I mean I like SF as much as the next guy but, come on. It didn't suck, but it felt like a $1.99 kindle...

I know it is an e-arc, but the first couple of chapters really need to be scrubbed. I didn't know that Adams was a SEAL Master Sargent ~lol~ I loved the homage to JW. Other than feeling a little short, I enjoyed the book.
** OK, now that the joy of having a new "Ghost" book to read is starting to wear off, I am changing my rating. I still think it is a decent book, but it is not up to the standards of the previous stories. The action is still there, but the characters are 'flat' this time around with nothing new being added. I also need to go back and re-read the previous stories as this time it seemed like there was a 'Tom Clancian' amount of technical minutia I don't remember from the previous books. I am wondering if this was a collaboration or a Ringo outline and Sear doing the writing? Either way, decent book, but a let down.
