He has a Doctorate in Optical Science and Engineering, a master's degree in Physics, a master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, all from the University of Alabama in Huntsville; a master's degree in Astronomy from the University of Western Sydney, and a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University.
Dr. Taylor has worked on various programs for the Department of Defense and NASA for the past sixteen years. He's currently working on several advanced propulsion concepts, very large space telescopes, space-based beamed energy systems, and next generation space launch concepts. In his copious spare time, Doc Travis is also a black belt martial artist, a private pilot, a SCUBA diver, races mountain bikes, competed in triathlons, and has been the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of several hard rock bands.

Product ReviewThis is a fun book. READ THIS BOOK!
There were only a couple of scenes in this book that made me shake my head and say "oh, no way". But the rest was so good that I was immediately sucked back into the story.
This book will capture you from page 1. Set aside some time to read, because this is definitely a cover-to-cover,in-one- sitting book.Posted on

Product ReviewSorry, Charles, but I did computer support for a raft of Ph.Ds and multi-doctorates (at a Large Leftcoast National Laboratory) and they had all kind of accents ... including a couple from Alabama who sounded exactly like that. My favorite 'customer' was a female French chemist - she could read you the grappin phone book and it would be sexy. Ooh la la!

Product ReviewLiked the travel around the stars for the first time in a "converted" (and I use the term loosely, about as loosely as it was held together,) sub. But the action was just as great as in any of his other books, I even found the physics enjoyable to read, even if I didn't understand half of it.
