Product ReviewExtremely disappointed to find out that Aral and Cordelia's great love story really wasn't that great after all...

Product ReviewLoved this book. Less drama than others but much more focused on Cordelia. Highly recommend for Vorkosigan series fans, many of the nuances would be missed by new readers.

Product ReviewVery disappointed. A long time reader of the saga and this feels like it was written by someone else. No action, no direction and even including Miles can't save it.

Product ReviewI'm continually impressed by how Bujold is able to switch tone and genre successfully with every book. This one has literally no action at all, but it's still very satisfying.

Product ReviewSorry to say - that is the most boring Vorkosian-story I ever read. No sign of suspense, nor wonder nor gripping action - which person is to be considered the hero(ine)? none? all? compare to other Vorkosian-stories that one is like a walk through lala-land. I love scifi for the sense of wonder, for fictious worlds - not the consecutive description of child-rising problems every parent got in reality.
the final facepalm was the number of children - why is cordelia confined to home and heardstone as women in the 30's? is that an atempt to remove a character or on at political correctness in lieu of the fact that technical advanced societies tend to less children instead of whole platoons of them?
Mrs. Bujold - please don't do this again to your characters - they don't deserve it.Posted on

Product ReviewJust started but author has thrown "modern" mores into the mix, introducing new (expanded) characters and scenarios in her usual wryly amusing style.

Product ReviewBeautiful!! It's nice to see this romance and it's history. I had never expected this. Even though Miles does not play a large role in this book (Main characters are Oliver Jole and Cordelia), it's funny the way Miles was completely clueless about the relationships in the past.

Product ReviewThis book was an insult to Aral's memory and to Cordelia. In an earlier book Cordelia had replied to the revelation of Aral's bisexuality that he was monogamous. To find out that he really wasn't and was forsworn disappointed me.

Product ReviewOh well another favorite author bites the dust. Nuff said.

Product ReviewEchoing other comments, this novels plot is slow and unengaging. I believe it could have worked better as a novella. Many characters are added for slightly humorous subplots. Is this Bujold's way of retiring?
