Zombies are real. And we made them. Are you prepared for the zombie apocalypse? The Smith family is, with the help of a few marines.
When an airborne “zombie” plague is released, bringing civilization to a grinding halt, the Smith family, Steven, Stacey, Sophia and Faith, take to the Atlantic to avoid the chaos. The plan is to find a safe haven from the anarchy of infected humanity. What they discover, instead, is a sea composed of the tears of survivors and a passion for bringing hope.
For is up to the Smiths and a small band of Marines to somehow create the refuge that survivors seek in a world of darkness and terror. Now with every continent a holocaust and every ship an abattoir, life is lived beneath a graveyard sky.

Product ReviewI LOVED this book!!! I bought both hardcover, and it was worth it. I like the 2 daughters. Although there is not much happening with the mother. Why? I think the new guy bought onto SeaWolf's ship is going to be great, can't wait to see what happens there!! I want more interaction with the sub crews once they get the Vaccine. This story is one the best end of world scenario's I have read. Usually they tend to be depressing, but this one has Hope and some humor. Also I read Ringo books for the military presence for me that is always a plus. Cant wait for the next book. will probably buy as Eark rather than wait for hardcover!!:)))

Product ReviewThe preview cuts off before you can really get a feel for this book. I bought it on the strength of the preview and the fact that so far any book with Ringo as a primary author has been been at least good.
In the event, it dragged me in and forced me to finish it in one sitting, and purchase the ARC of the next book. I certainly hope it turns into an active series, and that the series continues in the direction and style that it started in.Posted on

Product ReviewI very much enjoyed this book. It is a refreshing Twist to all the other ZA books. With a near science look at the bio work that could be going on in labs or basments in 5-10 year

Product ReviewThe most implausible part of this story is actually the family it revolves around - getting that kind of mix of brains, beauty, and ruthless gun nut to mesh with logical pragmatism is rare to the point of unreality. On the other hand, its fiction, so who cares? The zombies really aren't zombies, and are more realistic for it, though I hope its considerably harder, if not impossible, to create something like Ringo's dual-expression crazy virus in real life, since in the book the only thing that had been preventing it was a lack of anyone insane enough to do it. In the book, however, this makes for a more realistic and believable scenario than legions of the ravenous undead (which can still be fun to read, but is definitely all-out fantasy as opposed to realistic fiction), and meshes well with Ringo's military fiction.
Is this Ringo's best work? The ending screams for a sequel (which I believe is slated for early 2014), so that's an automatic no, at least from me. Is it his worst? Not even close.
Within the structure of the story, the plot hangs together well, the characters are well developed, and the action is intense without descending into tedious detail. I'm a little concerned with number of characters that seem to be creeping into the main plot; unless he plans to red shirt them, there's a risk of information overload trying to fit them all in (or the opposite if they're built up and then simply abandoned). But in this book, that doesn't happen, and hopefully the next will be just as good.Posted on

Product ReviewI'm sure there's some handwavium in the zombie virus, but my knowledge of biology is inadequate to spot it. I'm impressed by the work that Ringo put into making the zombies non-magical. The characters and plot are also quite good.
I was a little thrown by the pacing, and the end seemed rather abrupt; I suspect this book would read better if one could immediately pick up the next one.Posted on
