Pittsburgh, PA has been magically transported to a world of elves and magic in order to stave off a monstrous invasion of Earth. Now Tinker, once a downtrodden waif from that city, but now a full-blooded elf ruler, must root out and destroy an evil plot that involves the kidnapping and breeding of elf children.
Tinker uncovers ancient secrets and a web of betrayal as she searches for the lost elflings. Meanwhile, the orc-like oni gangster kidnappers will stop at nothing to win, so neither can she. At five foot nothing, Tinker’s greatest weapon has always been her intelligence. Politics, she discovers, is a battle of wits, and Tinker comes heavily armed.

Product ReviewWhile still a good read, the cracks are showing in this installment of the series.
On a technical level, there are a handful of weird spelling/word errors in the early chapters that really should have been caught by an editor. The heavy use of 'the male' and 'the female' is a little odd, but tastes vary.
On an emotional level, this book continues the tendency for extremely traumatic events to happen to characters who seemingly brush it off with barely a moment's thought afterwards. Even when it plays lip service to the trauma that someone must be going through, they still tend to act almost completely normal, and we never get the kind of recovery time to unwind and unpack feelings, especially given that:
Plotwise - SO MUCH is going on that it starts to become disjointed, with all the different plots piling up on each other. In later chapters I sometimes found it difficult to tell how time was passing and how the events in one were lining up with the events in another. Huge discoveries are made with no time at all for reflection, and the ending does not feel like a resolution so much as a short gasp of breath.
I just really wish these books would SLOW DOWN.Posted on

Product ReviewI love this series so much! soooooo good but really with the cover? if tinker is a meth addict i can understand why she looks so messed up but damn! the cover and the quality of the story does not match. The only reason I can think this artist is making cover design is maybe he/she has some insider connection, maybe a cousin? I bet you're probably losing potential readers b/c of the cover, which is supa messed up b/c ur stories r so awesome and deserved to be showcased in the best light! much luv!
