Peril and strife strike on a double front for Honor Harrington and company. After a brutal attack on the Manticoran home system, Honor Harrington has rooted out a plan designed to enslave the entire human species. Behind that plan lies the shadowy organization known as the Mesan Alignment. Task number one for Honor is to shut down and secure the wormhole network that is the source of the Star Kingdom's wealth and power—but also its greatest vulnerability. Yet this is an act that the ancient and corrupt Earth-based Solarian League inevitably takes as a declaration of war.

The thunder of battle rolls as the Solarian League directs its massive power against the Star Kingdom. And once again, Honor Harrington is thrust into a desperate battle that she must win if she is to survive to take the fight to the real enemy of galactic freedom—the insidious puppetmasters of war who lurk behind the Mesan Alignment!

A workman like effort. Honor needs a good rest is the problem.

Just read it - and re-downloaded it and checked a different format in case I'd somehow missed the ending. The final page would be be unfinished as the close of a chapter, let alone a book! Weber is capable of much better craftmanship. Yes, some of the discussion is repetitive but a Short Victorious War was a bit like that - shucks even some of the short stories were! But Royal Weddings pad out Women's magazines, not sure we need them here. As a result of this book I checked the ratings for the next before buying the ARC and I won't be getting it - particularly as there are so many errors in this. Moriarity indeed!

Too many talking heads, not enough action. I've been a fan of the HH books but this one was terribly disappointing. I spent the whole novel waiting for something exciting and worthwhile to happen, but sadly nothing did.

The actual plot takes up maybe a third of the book, and the rest is filled with endless inconsequential talks and transcripts of bureaucratic meetings. Feel free to skim past any political meeting type scene, unless you happen to like reading minutes. You won't miss any plot point since the next scene is sure to be the other side rehashing what their enemies did.

Skip this one. The next book could distill this word padding monstrosity in a few paragraphs, and you'll save your $6.

    I enjoyed this book greatly.

Maybe not as much as books which focus on Honor the majority of the book, but it was still very good. It could be that because I haven't read an Honor book in a while that I wasn't disappointed. And obviously this book is a huge prelude to the next book (as the title says, the furor is increasing throughout the book), so there's that as well. I also noticed a couple of proof-reading misses (misspelled words), but by now I'm used to that (it's a general problem with all eBook publishers). Nonetheless, since I did enjoy it and would recommend it, I am giving it full marks.

I love David Weber's works and hope he continues for many more years.

Wow much better than average for the recent Honor books.
I don't think I skimmed more than 40-50 pages total, and that was mainly at the end. More focused and the meaningless rambling dialog content was down. Don't get me wrong this is the best series ever, I just thought it was over. Maybe not. Hope not. It earned an extra star for not disappointing me so much. So a 3 in the world of books and a 2 in the world of Honor. I wonder if the feedback he gets is working. (I can't believe I give a star for lack of disappointment, but I do.) It's just an OK book.

    A good book.

    Not one of his great's.

As others have said, the Solarion rulers are a bit of a let down.

They seem quite cliched and too dumb to be actual leader's.

But just look into some of the real world leaders, and maybe they would seem to fit right in:)

But for sure i am happy i continue to buy Mr. Weber's books. And am looking forward to the continuation of the story in the next installment.

On a side note: i am so very happy to continue to support him by buying the E-format books here on Baen books site.

It is the only site that has a rational policy on e-books that i have found.

    A definite buy.
