The Industrial Revolution has escalated into all-out warfare. Sixteen years have passed since the Heterodyne Boys, benevolent adventurers and inventors, disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

At Transylvania Polygnostic University, a pretty, young student named Agatha Clay seems to have nothing but bad luck. Incapable of building anything that actually works, but dedicated to her studies, Agatha seems destined for a lackluster career as a minor lab assistant. But when the university is overthrown by the ruthless tyrant Baron Klaus Wulfenbach, Agatha finds herself a prisoner aboard his massive airship Castle Wulfenbach—and it begins to look like she might carry a spark of Mad Science after all.
From Phil and Kaja Foglio, creators of the Hugo, Eagle, and Eisner Award-nominated webcomic Girl Genius, comes Agatha H. and the Airship City, a gaslamp fantasy filled to bursting with Adventure! Romance! and Mad Science!

Product ReviewThis story line is fabulous fun for the lovers of goofy steam punk soap opera.
I read the comic, and I bought the hard copy book, not realizing it was available as an ebook here.Posted on

Product ReviewBoth of us loved it. Great on her iPad and my iPod Touch. Even though my wife was told this was Vol 1-3 of the Graphic Novel, she still yelled "It Can't Stop Here! [insert cursing]!!!" when she reached the end. If you like the Foglio's work, read the sample chapters for free and compare it to the free webcomic. Then buy the Text Novels and/ or Graphic Novels or Both and dig in!

Product ReviewA disappointment. This is a frame-by-frame retelling of the first two Girl Genius! graphic novels. Unfortunately, the verbal imagery is much weaker than the original pictoral, and the editing is poor. Rather than getting this, take a look at the girl genius online comic, then buy a few of the books. THOSE are wonderful!

Product ReviewIn contrast with the previous reviewer, I loved this.
This is Phil and Kaja Foglio's novelisation of their ongoing Girl Genius webcomic (or rather, the first couple of volumes of it). The webcomic promises 'Adventure, Romance, Mad Science!' - and that's exactly what you get in this book. It's a lighthearted, fun romp through a world shaped by mad geniuses (those with 'the Spark') and their crazy inventions.
If you already read and love the webcomic, the book won't offer any surprises in terms of plot, but what it does is flesh out the characters and offer more details, along with some backstory. I heartily recommend it.
If you don't already read the webcomic, but you're into steampunk (or as Kaja Foglio prefers to call it, gaslamp fantasy), then I recommend both webcomic and book. Both tell the same story, so pick your preferred medium. Or do as I did, and read both!Posted on
