Humans were born without fang or claw, so we made our own from rock and steel. Our ancestors harnessed the power of fire because humanity is ill suited to the dark and cold. We were slower than the animals around us, so we built machines that could outpace the fastest among them. Wingless we may be, we can fly higher than any bird. And for when our fragile bodies fail, we made devices to walk for us. Breathe for us. See for us.

If we ever found others who could use magic, you can bet we would make our own.
