Five hundred years ago, in the late 18th century, George Washington helped put down the First American Rebellion by suppressing the rebel holdouts led by Benedict Arnold. Now, the Britannic Federal Empire reaches the stars. But a small faction calling themselves the New Americans have settled into an uneasy peace with the Empire in the Tau Ceti system. Now, all that threatens to blow wide open when a theoretical physicist named Jonas Yoder—a member of the extremist Sons of Arnold—proposes that there are other Universes out there, ones in which the First American Rebellion ended in victory for the Continental Army. What’s more, Yoder thinks he has a way to reach that Universe. But when Yoder goes missing, it falls to a young Imperial commander and a New American scientist to discover just what happened to him—and prevent a war that could tear their Universe apart.
