ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
House of Rough Diamonds was going to be a very different book, with a very different title. Then several upheavals disrupted my personal landscape and I realized that there was another story that I wanted to tell instead.
I’d like to thank Paul Dellinger, Julie Bartel, and Jim Moore, who not only served as first readers for the manuscript, but also encouraged me as I changed my focus.
Once the book was completed, Toni Weisskopf at Baen gave it a home, assuring that the story of Over Where begun in Library of the Sapphire Wind and Aurora Borealis Bridge would continue. Tom Kidd painted the lovely cover, as well as indulging me with some fun discussions of how he evokes movement.
I am also grateful to Scott Pearson for his thoughtful copyediting, and to Joy Freeman for helping me as I worked my way through the production process.
Finally, thanks to all of you who have joined me Over Where.
