THE LIBERTY CON

I have been part of the science fiction community for forty years. I have known Tim and Anna Zahn for much of that time. First, as a fan in the early ’80s when Tim was just starting to sell short stories, then later as one of the editors who got to publish him in book form at Baen Books, and finally in the twenty-first century as the publisher of his Cobra series and many other works. I saw Tim and Anna’s son, Corwin, grow up at conventions. And I could do that because LibertyCon and others like it were friendly places for families, friendly places for young fans to congregate, let their hair down, and enjoy the company of others who loved science fiction. That, too, is part of Uncle Timmy’s legacy.
