A NOTE ON THE COVER ART
Every spring I run a writing retreat at Lake Quinault on the Olympic Peninsula. It’s held at the Rain Forest Resort Village where this novel is set. My good friend Nikki Rossignol, a wonderful artist, signed on to do the cover art for this novel. As it so happened, she decided to come to the retreat in 2020 (just weeks before lockdown due to Covid-19).
Nikki works primarily with watercolors. While at Quinault, she gathered rainwater and sent several bottles of it back home to Montana. She completed a black and white drawing to start, which graces the hardcover boards underneath the dust jacket.
The cover art for this novel was painted using actual rainwater from Quinault. That means every copy of this novel is infused with the magic of the rainforest!
