The wardrooms of the three ships will be filled with war stories at chow time, and morale is high. The fleet hasn't lost time or men on this, but Emerald is deeply disturbed. This is not going to be a pleasure cruise. She ponders the irony that, in the vastness of space, she would have run into a stray pirate so soon, and she wonders how many more little surprises lie ahead. It is now 0130, and they have a long way to go.
