Writing flash fiction is a blast! In and out in a day’s work, if you’re lucky. And people might actually pause long enough from endlessly thumbing their cell phones to read it! If one could earn a living from it, the rewards of the mode would be complete.
My task in this tale was to give a fresh instance of How Technology Can Go Wrong. “Hubris clobbered by Nemesis,” as Brian Aldiss described it. If you picture the story as if it were a classic Popeye or Superman cartoon from the Fleischer studio, you’ll have an accurate image of what I intended.
