From mighty Canopus, capital of the Federated Stars, to the outer fringes of our great galaxy, the Interstellar Patrol was on the watch. Rogue suns, marauding alien intelligences, man-made comets driven by their makers for the conquest of unsuspecting worlds, diabolical conspiracies hatched in the depths of unmapped nebulas—it was the business of the Patrol's mighty spaceships to guard against such cosmic dangers.

CRASHING SUNS is the epic account of this future space legion, where volunteers from a thousand worlds man the mighty starcraft of a hundred thousand years to come. It's interplanetary adventure on the classic scale, by the master hand of Edmond Hamilton.

This was what I expected. This "book" was written in 1928 (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edmond_Hamilton). Do your research before you buy. It is a example of very early SciFi and should be read and accepted as that. The science, language, writing etc is what you could expect for a story written in the Twenties.

**** It would be helpful if Bean would list the original publishing date of these early stories along with their re-publishing date. It is understandable for the reader to be confused by the date listed, unless they know that the author is from an earlier time.

This is for juveniles. Reminds me of the old Buck Rogers series. Sorry I wasted my money. Actually, modern juveniles might find it to be beneath their dignity.

Some of the worst writing I've ever read! I couldn't even finish the book, it was so bad. Hamilton sounds like a 19th century writer translated from French or something - odd sentence structure, weird phraseology, and never mind all the "etheric vibrations" rubbish.

It's too bad - the "Starwolves" books were, if not great, at least readable.

Hamilton seems to have a problem with Einstein... ether for gods sake.
Additionally I found the stories to be exactly the same one told only with slight variations
