Product ReviewAwesome book. I only wish the whole of this series were available through webscriptions. I think she publishes them through Tor. Such a pity Tor never resumed it's relationship with Webscriptions.

Product ReviewI truly enjoy Catherine Asaro's Skolian books. Not all are at the "I love the book and am (almost) willing to commit mayhem to get that book _right now_ (although this one is. Lucky for me it is published by Baen, isn't it? And yes, I got the eARC).
One of the really interesting things about Asaro's books is how you can dive into the action and when you come up for air (for me, when I turn that last page) you have odd mathematical concepts and bits and pieces of quantum physics stuck in your teeth or tangled in your hair. I have probably learned more about those regions of science from following up on those leads than I learned in school ;-)Posted on

Product ReviewI only "discovered" Catherine Asaro in 2006 when Alpha was included in the September Webscription. Because of that book, Mrs. Asaro joined a handful of other authors on my list of "if they write it, I will buy it".
Ruby Dice was a pleasure to read. Unlike many books where you only really meet two or three "characters", Ruby Dice introduced me to a dozen interesting people. I got to know their personalities, quirks, vices and streangths.
My major complaint, and it is a big one, is that while reading the "Characters and Family History" afterword, I discovered that Mrs. Asaro has written eleven other books in this series which are published by Tor and of which, none are available as ebooks. When is Tor ever going to get get a clue and follow Baen's webscription model? In the last five years, I have spent fifteen dollars at webscriptions.net for every dollar I have spent on dead trees with the Tor logo printed on the front.Posted on
