A NOVEL ABOUT MAN'S PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE
The man on the moon was dead. They called him Charlie. He had big eyes, abundant body hair and fairly long nostrils. His skeletal body was found clad in a bright red spacesuit, hidden in a rocky grave. They didn't know who he was, how he got there, or what had killed him. All they knew was that his corpse was 50,000 years old -- and that meant that this man had somehow lived long before he ever could have existed!

Product ReviewGreat book. This is one that started Hogan off.
As a first novel, it's a bit lacking in character development, and the prose does not flow as well as I would like. But the ideas are fascinating enough that I've reread it several times, even though I know how it works out. It's a great scientific mystery story, basically, where instead of figuring out who did something wrong, we have to figure out what happened.Posted on

Product ReviewI don't like writing entirely negative reviews, but this book deserves one. It is poorly written, and the author seems to have a primary school understanding of science.

Product ReviewIn many ways, a more plausible, less mystical version of 2001. I first read this (and the whole series) as a kid, and it still holds up well 30 years later.
It's a fascinating novel because it doesn't really focus too much on characters or plot, but a puzzle that is slowly unraveledPosted on
