STUDENTS OF HONOR . . .
The Star Kingdom of Manticore is once again at war with the Republic of Haven after a stunning sneak attack. The graduating class from Saganami Island, the Royal Manticoran Navy's academy, are going straight from the classroom to the blazing reality of all-out war.
Except for the midshipmen assigned to the heavy cruiser HMS Hexapuma, that is. They're being assigned to the Talbott Cluster, an out of the way backwater, far from the battle front. Product Review"Shadow of Saganami" is not only a return to form for the Honorverse, but is also my favorite entry in the series, period. It has the same wonderful mix of politics and space combat as before. But here, the focus is more on the five midshipmen who come aboard HMS Hexapuma, rather than her CO. Throw in a diabolical Mesan plot, some romance, and a planet populated entirely by cowboys, and the result is a fantastic read that I have enjoyed time and time again!
I also strongly recommend the audio version, which gives several characters (particularly Helen and the Montanans) an extra bit of character.Posted on
