Liberty is Born in the Czar's American Lands
Fight for Free Amerika!

21st century Russian Amerika—a cold, hard land held in chains by a brutal police state. But now the Cossacks have met their match in a rebel army of Athabaskans and outcast creoles. New republic or slavery's chains

It will all come down to a gritty and courageous rebel commander and a final courageous stand at the remote fortress known as the Chena Redoubt.

A debut alternate history of astonishing power and prescience from Alaskan native Stoney Compton!

"[T]his is a mordant, brilliant book."

I had absolutely no idea whether I would like it or not, and had a bit of the wrong idea from the title. But I got the second one in a bundle so figured I would buy the first and give it a whirl. Glad I did, it was quite an unexpected alternate history and became a fascinating, and thrilling, adventure. I want to read more!

Slow to begin, I finally figured out how that setup became useful, later in the story. A page-turner for sure after the first 40 pages. I hope there is a second book forthcoming.

I am hoping the new characters were introduced in the ending to introduce them for the second book in a series.

The ending gets a little confused, with new characters appearing for no apparent reason, but otherwise an interesting alternate history.

A solid read, especially if this is the first by Stoney Compton. However, didn't like the abruptness of the ending...I was wondering if I'd somehow lost part of the book. Hope there's a sequel to flesh out the rest of this world.

Very interesting book. I felt like cheering for the major character throughout the entire story. It was a very modernized approach to the concept of a modern "American nation". I hope more novels are produced in this world. I wonder if the Confederates and Texans will be overun. I would love to see that.
