But the worst threat are those in the aristocracy who seek to crush the serfs and execute the czar in a bid to drive any hope for Russian freedom under their Parisian-crafted boot heels. But the Russians of 1637 have taken inspiration from their up-timer counterparts. And it could be that a new wind of liberty is about to blow three centuries early—and change Mother Russia forever.

Finally!This is a worthy successor to the first tale. Effectively the competing superstate is being built -- will it continue to extend tech in ways that differ from the USE? Can it Ally with AustriahHungary to balance the Turks? Can it move east toward Persia -- and Khorasan -bridging the gap to Mughal India?
At least as many potential stories here as in the Eurocentric "arc".Posted on

Overall okayStoryline does move forward, new characters introduced, old characters mentioned.
The stories are more like US politics, going forward a little, going backward a little, not many insights to Czar Mikhail's mind.
Previous book is much more interesting than this.

This is not what I expected to buy after reading the sample chapters and reading the full book.
