From the Romantic Times Sapphire award winning author of the Internationally best‑selling Elfhome series.

REBUILD A LIFE, SAVE A CITY

Silas Decker had his world destroyed when he was attacked by vampires outside of New Amsterdam. He has rebuilt his life a dozen times in the last three hundred years—each time less and less successfully. Now he lives alone, buried under a hoarding habit, struggling to find some reason to wake up with the setting of the sun.

Eloise is a Virtue, pledged to hunting evil. What she doesn’t know is how to live alone in a city full of strangers who know nothing about monsters.

Seth is the sixteen‑year old Prince of Boston, ward of the Wolf King. Now he is left in a city that desperately needs his protection with enemies gathering all around.

Joshua believes he is a normal, college‑bound high school senior. His life is shattered when he wakes up in a field, covered with blood, and the prom committee scattered in pieces about him like broken dolls.

These four must now come together to unravel a plot by Wickers, witches who gain power from human sacrifices and have the power to turn any human into their puppet. Four people who lost everything struggle to save Boston by saving each other.

Spencer's new world turns vampire and werewolf lore upside down. Family can be those who love you- species unspecified. Spencer is always creative and this is best yet. Can't wait for next installment.

A lot of the originality that makes the Ukiah Oregan series such an enjoyable read. Her virtual universe although interesting and detailed isn't quite as carefully defined as Ukiah's, although perhaps we'll learn more later. Some of the quirkiness and light touch seen in Lackey's Diana/Andre pairings, (particularly her short stories,) some of the ramifications (legal etc) that Laurel Hamilton explores but without, thankfully, the porn. And yes, the book although complete in itself does leave one hoping to read more of these characters.

I have never read a Wen Spencer book before this one. I normally stick to hard core SciFi. the sample chapters were funny fast pasted and highly enjoyable. I ended up buying the whole book as was not in any way disappointed. If you like a adventure this book is for you. Was not sure of the multiple caricatures focus but it works for this book. Try it you will like it. I did.

Wen Spencer always brings a unique viewpoint and a rich tapestry of world-building to her novels. This is a good solid book and an enjoyable read, but "The Black Wolves of Boston" reads more like a paranormal romance than anything else. Her Elfhome novels defy categorization, but they drew me in and held my attention far more. I've re-read each of them several times. I don't see myself doing that with this book.

I started reading the snippets for this three years ago Wen not only delivered on what we saw with those snippets she has turned out a rollicking ride that left me breathless . Joshua is a complex an heartwarming character that make me want to hold hI'm close and comfort him when he is lost an alone before finding himself in Deckers care. Decker shine with the goodness of heart an spirit, his curse as he puts it has led him to a solitary existence until he discovers Joshua killing trees in Back Bay park, together they bring comfort an joy anew to each other.
