When Cordelia Naismith and her survey crew are attacked by a renegade group from Barrayar, she is taken prisoner by Aral Vorkosigan, commander of the Barrayan ship that has been taken over by an ambitious and ruthless crew member. Aral and Cordelia survive countless mishaps while their mutual admiration and even stronger feelings emerge. A science fiction romance by a Hugo and Nebula Award winning master. Bujold's SHARDS OF HONOR is the first book in her SF universe to feature the Vorkosigan clan, followed by the Hugo award-winning BARRAYAR. The Nebula award-winning FALLING FREE precedes it by internal chronology in the same future history.

Excellent book I highly recomend it. It is still available on this site with the original title of Cordelia's Honor at the old price of $5.00 rather than paying for a the $6.99 for the "new" book (read that as new title same book). I really don't think it is fair to change and old books title. Then list it in the new book category just to charge an additional $1.99 for it. Starting to see this happening more often lately. But I do recommend this story under either title.

I second Mike's comment about having two copies already. I usually reread the entire series eveytime a new book appears. A wonderful character driven writer with a great sense of humor.

For much of my life had considered myself a "hard" SF fan. This lady taught me that character development is even more important than reality based SF in contributing to the "willing suspension of disbelief" that makes a good tale so enjoyable. I would recommend her writing to anyone.

Don't be fooled by the slightly Mills & Boon-ey trappings; this is a finely plotted and characterized tale, and absolutely the best place to start with the Vorkosigan Saga. Apparently it began life as Star Trek fanfic, but I'd never have guessed that from reading it. There's also an epilogue - 'Aftermaths' - which IMHO is the best short story LMB has ever written.

This story has been previously published along with 'Barrayar' as 'Cordelia's Honor', just in case you already have that and didn't want to buy it again. Personally I already have that, both as dead-tree and ebook, and am more than happy to buy it again.
