Prequel to 1636: The Viennese Waltz. The Barbies are rising. After their West Virginia town is transported to 1630s continental Europe, a group of teenage girls discover that bringing future technology and future business practices to a backward Europe just emerging from the Middle Ages can be very lucrative indeed—and might even change the course of empire.

Meh.It's a reasonable time-filler. I've read better stories in the Grantville Gazette, e.g. the story about Pam Kim & bats in the belfry. That story actually dredged some emotional connection from me. This book and characters - zilch.

Product ReviewGreat Sort Out and chronologically steadying a folklore gossip of important people! Plus, Great writing pulled into a coherent story narrative instead of by-bits of gossip!
And! Fast Moving and Funny!

Product ReviewGreat plot and character development. One of the closest books that you can pick out from the series without having read up to its own publication and still thoroughly enjoy. Thanks for renewing my interest!

Product ReviewWell, it's nice to have the bits from the gazette collected in what is very nearly a narrative. But the book is really badly edited, with ///stet/// in at least three places, not to mention some ghastly typoes. The last part reads like it was cut from The Viennese Waltz, and it really shouldn't have been. Still, for just $4,99, it's okay.

Product Reviewif you had trouble getting into Viennese waltz, you'll need to read this first. more than just the collected barbie stories, it resets the events and stories from the grantville gazette with a more accurate timeline, and corrects minor continuity errors.
the only thing i thought it was missing was the explanation of Tina's death.Posted on
