Books 3 and 4 in the New York Times best‑selling Empire of Man series: March to the Stars and We Few, both New York Times bestsellers.

Prince Roger MacClintock was an heir to the galaxy's Throne of Man and a self‑obsessed spoiled young brat—that is, until he and the Royal Marines sent to protect him were stranded by an assassination attempt on the wild and dangerous planet of Marduk. After much travail, Roger has developed into a competent and compassionate leader of men. That competence will be tested when Roger and the Marines face an even greater challenge. The Throne of Man has been usurped. With his brother dead and the forces of an interstellar empire arrayed against him, Roger must avenge his family and fight for the just rule of a thousand stars.

    Hi,
I enjoyed the Empire of Man series very much. One of the best series. Unfortunately, I missed that this was just a copy of books 3 and 4 (which I already own).
Being unemployed, I can not afford to purchase duplicates of items I already own.

First of all, thank you for clearly pointing out this time that this is an omnibus edition of previous works. (Though the cover is quite cluttered and confusing...)

Book 3 of the Empire of Man series is probably the weakest of the lot. The story feels very rushed and a bit of a Deus ex machina defuses some of the tensions that the previous two books built up. It feels like the authors were getting themselves out of a corner..... Still, a fun read, though. Lots of character building and very touching scenes.

Book 4, on the other hand, is probably the best of the series. It has a fun fish-out-of-water aspect, as well as quality espionage, political machinations, space battles, and world building. Something for everyone. The best qualities of these two authors are on great display, with very few of the downsides of some of their other works.

Taken together, I have to rate these two books quite highly.

Can't wait for Book 5! The first few chapters are floating around out there and they look great.
