A thrilling stand‑alone novel addition to the long‑running, popular Man‑Kzin Wars series created by New York Times multiple best seller, Larry Niven.

“Ah, the wealth o’ the treasure planet be beyond the dreams of Man or the hopes o’ Kzin!”

On Wunderland, a generation after Liberation, memories of the bloody kzin conquest and Occupation have faded, and men and kzin live largely in peace. But the fabulous treasure of the kzin pirates, hidden on a distant world, remains a magnet for freebooters. Young Peter Cartwright and his kzinrett friend Marthar receive information and map from a most unlikely source and soon themselves fighting the most ruthless pirates in Known Space for an unimaginable prize.

I've never followed Larry Niven's works like I do Weber, Ringo, or Drake, but I have read several of his works over the years, as well as a number of the Man-Kzin compilations.
I have to say, this book is more of a tribute to how far this publisher has fallen since Jim Baen passed away than to Mr. Niven's world building. It reads like fan fiction (which it is) written for not terribly intelligent third graders. I practically got a headache struggling through the poor wording, stiff dialogue, and general low quality that should have had any editor worth his job title sending the manuscript back to the author Express, rather than to the publisher.

This is a young adult sci fi version of the classic Treasure Island. It virtually copies the entire original story line with very little variation or imagination. I would rather have re-read the original.
