London 1888. His Majesty’s airships troll the sky powered by antigrav liftwood as a cabal of Iron Lords tightens it hold on a Britain choked by the fumes of industry. Mars has been colonized, and clockwork assassins stalk the European corridors of power. And somewhere far to the east, the Old Man of the Mountains plots the end of the world with his Forever Engine.
Enter Jack Fargo. Scholar. Former special forces operator in Afghanistan. A man from our own near future thrust back in time—or to wherever it is that this Brave Victorian World actually exists. Aided only by an elderly Scottish physicist, a young British officer of questionable courage, and a beautiful but mysterious spy for the French Commune, Fargo is a man on a mission: save the future from irrevocable destruction when the Forever Engine is brought to full power and blows this universe, and our own, to smithereens.

Product ReviewThis was a good read with a decent mix of high adventure, steampunk and mad science. I like the fact that all of the characters were believable and grounded yet still comes across as larger than live when needs be. However, I feel that the story started running out of steam (pun intended) towards the last 15%. Still all in all a good start to what I hope will be a continuing series. Do note that I'm a fan of Space 1889 so I am more inclined to like this book :)

Product ReviewAbsolutely enjoyed it. Read it in a single setting. I enjoyed the fact that the characters were a bit more than two dimensional.

Product ReviewThis was a good read, with the story set in a steampunk-ish environment that Chadwick developed in the 1980's for a role playing game called Space 1889. Overall a lot of fun to read.

Product ReviewWow. Expertly crafted. Like taking a bit of Lin Carter, a dash of Edgar Rice Burroughs, a dab of Alan Burt Akers, Bring to a boil... Modernize the science with a little Wells...add Heinlein to taste. Yum.
The perfect meal...leaving me very satisfied. Ahhh.
There is the suspicion that this story was engineered to honor those great authors of the past. If so... The author certainly succeeded. Thanks. ??Posted on

Product Reviewenjoyed this book a lot. while I at first hoped this was a sequel to his last book, the time travel story was great! as a fan of Tesla I was happy to see him as a mad scientist villain, his photos make this an easy leap.

Product Reviewa pretty good steampunk yarn. I quite enjoyed it ! Though I did think slowing the earths rotation a few seconds was a little much, that's enough energy to boil a few oceans.
