NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLING MILITARY ADVENTURE SERIES.
A new addition to the Kildar military adventure series created by John Ringo. Sequel to Ghost, Kildar, Choosers of the Slain and Unto the Breach.
After saving America from Middle Eastern terrorists, even Mike Harmon and the Keldara could use a vacation. Of course, the Kildar’s idea of a vacation includes taking down pirates in the Singapore Straits. But when he finds computer chips designed to run nuclear reactors in the pirate booty, Harmon has a new mission thrust upon him–discover how bottom-feeding thieves got their hands on top-secret technology.
The chips are headed for newly democratic Myanmar, a country vital to American interests in the region. Now Harmon finds himself in a desperate race to learn who stole the chips and why. From glittering Hong Kong to the slums of Thailand to the swamps of Myanmar, Harmon and his Keldara team follow a trail of death and deceit across the glittering underbelly of Southeast Asia.
And as the path winds through dark jungle and slave labor camps to the heart of newborn democracy, Harmon must devise a way to prevent the nasty overthrow of a nation’s capital by totalitarian tyrants. But if there’s one thing Mike and the Keldara specialize in, it’s doing what it takes to give freedom a chance.

only buy to round out seriesi started to rate this book 3-stars and just couldn't do it. the setting says Hong Kong and gives you mainland Cantonese gangsters. the charactorizations are forced. Mike's flamboyance is transmuted into mere braggadocio. The story does have good pacing, a Ringo trademark.

Product ReviewI normally like this series, but as someone who's actually been to Hong Kong, I had to knock two stars off for really poor research. For one thing, the "wretched hive" description is at least 20 years out of date. They have been working like gangbusters to fight corruption.
Further, he has a Hong Konger character spouting CCP dogma. You'd have to go much higher into the HK administration to even begin to find such a person. Most HKers aren't really over-thrilled with being considered part of China.
Third, of course, is the failure to recognize Chinese naming conventions (calling Zhao Cong "Mr. Cong").
Like I said, piss-poor research. I expect better of Mr. Ringo.Posted on

Product ReviewCo author obviously never read any of the previous books and the whole plot was implausible in the extreme.
I've read and enjoyed almost everything Ringo's written; this thing obviously wasn't written by him and the characters were totally out of character.Posted on

Product ReviewTypical Ringo military adventure with plenty of guns and sex.

Product ReviewMike is back. The world is changing. This is just a short dip back into Kildar's universe. He doesn't save the world this time. He sets his sights lower. Gets involved in the spy world visits south east asia. Not one of the best but any Kildar adventure is worth reading.

Product ReviewCould be a lot better -
Has great action, and the concept is "valid" in relation to the characters.
I thought for a while about why I would only rate it as a "OK" rather than "Really Like" or "Great" - the problem is the character development.
When at his best John Ringo does a great job of capturing and showing the internal struggle his characters are undergoing. Some of the scenes with Mike are just not as well developed, you get the impression that he is just "along for the ride" and not emotionally connected to what is happening. In previous books we see his internal battle with anger at women, strong inclinitation to violence, rape, and his pain when the girl he loves dies. That's all missing here.
It's still a good action read, but definitely one of the weaker works. Worth the money? Yes, but let's hope he (or is it Mr. Sears) learns how to move forward from here!

Product ReviewI liked it. I liked it as a 'popcorn' movie type of book. Lots of action and lots of action. No deep thinking on this one. The character development and backstory that were presented in the earlier books is not here but, if you just want to escape for a while, this book is for you
