War is brutal. Colonel Wes Stauer gets it. He ought to. He was once one of war's most brutal practitioners—not to mention one of its most effective and least bloody. Brutal yes; stupid no. Now, not only must Stauer command his crack outfit of former comrades and pull off yet another miracle mission, he must also harness and direct the brute within himself—a beast he will need in order to destroy an intelligent enemy who is as implacable as Stauer himself. Okay, almost as implacable. There will be war. And there will be warriors like Wes Stauer who have the know-how and, once set in motion, the unstoppable professional drive, to see the bad guys to their graves and destroy every last earthly piece of their nasty legacies.

Like "the Liberators" this book starts off a little bit slow with lots of preparation and such, but when the real action starts, its just not possible to lay down the book. I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series (hopefully there will be one).

A third rate army faces off against a decently, but not lavishly equipped mercenary regiment made of old ex-servicemen and their local recruits. Who will win? And who among the good guys will die?

This is a tentative rating as I just finished the Sample Chapters. Book now on my Wish List. Read the first two chapters in this one which caused me to look for and purchase and then read the first book in the Series, "Countdown: The Liberators". Finished that in an evening and a day - hard to put down. Very good reading!! One question now though. This book keeps referring to what seems to be significant activity which apparently took place between "The Liberators" end and the beginning of "M Day". Very confusing and I spent some time looking for a sequel that apparently does not exist. Disappointing, that.
