BACK IN ACTION
Old soldiers never die... except inside, when they lack a reason to live. Old soldier Wes Stauer is dying inside, from sheer lack of purpose.
And then comes the knock on the door: "Our leader's son and heir has been kidnapped. We don't know where he is. We need you to get him back for us. The people who have him are numerous, warlike, and well armed. But money is no object."
And then old soldiers-sailors and airmen, too-stop fading away and come back into sharp focus.
Praise for Tom Kratman:
"Kratman's [Caliphate] is a brisk page turner full of startling twists... he's a professional military man... so he's certainly up to speed on the military and geopolitical conceits of the book." -Mark Steyn, Maclean's Magazine
"Kratman's written the future [in Caliphate], and it's scary." -John Ringo

Very good Read.Personally, I like the Legion books a tad bit better (a bit more "sci" with my "fi", but these are quite good in and of themselves. Solid, well developed characters, and good pacing and action.

Product ReviewPleasantly dissimilar to the Carnifex series. Granted, there are parallels, yet the book avoids becoming a "Legion" clone. Looks like a beginning of a new series, although the plot is finished within this volume (and I like that).

Product ReviewI give it a 4. Feel of the book is very similar to the legion books. I would rather have had the nex installment of the legion than a whole new set of books that are so similar I would not mind a new series from this author but as others have said this reads too much like the legion books. But still all and all it is a good read.

Product ReviewReading Col Kratman, one has to separate his politics from the story. That done, it was a very good book.

Product ReviewIf you have read the Legion del Cid then this is a re-hash of the same story / premise, particularly the first book of said series.
Standing on its own the book is worth a 4 star, but since the author has already told this story I can't rate it any higher.Posted on
