Website Interview with Catherine Asaro

TW: How did you get started writing? Any specific influences?

CA: I've always loved to make up stories. I started writing seriously in graduate school. Originally it was to take a break from solving equations, but I enjoyed it so much, I've never stopped!

TW: What are some of the best perks of being a science fiction writer?

CA: Getting to meet readers. All the fascinating people who read my books.

TW: Do you have any favorites among your characters?

CA: It's hard to say. Soz, maybe. I like them all (except the villains! :-).

TW: What was the first sf story you ever read?

CA: It was about a girl and her little brother and their cat. They went to the moon. I don't remember the name. I was about five or six at the time. I was hooked from then on.

TW: What invention or scientific leap in understanding would you most like to see made in your lifetime?

CA: A way to circumvent or otherwise get around the speed of light.
